User Research
I conducted interviews with three participants representing different ages, life stages, and relationships to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). My goal was to better understand their daily challenges, current workflows, unmet needs, and expectations for a digital health companion. Although each participant had a unique experience, several consistent themes emerged.

User Needs Statement
Young people living with IBD need an easy and engaging way to manage their condition because existing tools are fragmented, overly clinical, & not designed for their daily lives.
Based on the research, I established four guiding principles that shaped every design decision.

The Visual System
IBuDdy’s visual system combines warm pastels, deep teal typography, rounded components, and friendly illustrations to create a health experience that feels optimistic and supportive rather than clinical. Consistent colors, icons, and interaction patterns organize information clearly, while encouraging feedback makes everyday health management feel more approachable and rewarding.
